Talwen

Language models for UK law, public services and regulated work.

Talwen adapts capable open models to British language, institutions and practice, and is developing deployment under UK jurisdiction.

The work is early. It covers fine-tuning, evaluation, controlled deployment and voice.

Our work

The problem

Local rules change the answer.

A model can be fluent and still confuse UK and US law, miss the conventions of a public service, or place sensitive data under the wrong jurisdiction.

We work on those failures directly.

Current work

Three connected areas.

01

UK model adaptation

Fine-tuning and evaluation using UK legislation, public guidance, institutional language and professional practice.

02

Controlled deployment

Options for organisations that need clear data location, retention, access and accountability.

03

British speech and voice

Research on regional speech and expression without reducing difference to stereotype.

Enquiries

Who we want to hear from.

01

Public bodies

Teams assessing language models for services, casework, policy or internal knowledge.

02

Regulated organisations

Firms that need model behaviour, data handling and jurisdiction to withstand scrutiny.

03

Partners and independent contributors

Researchers, engineers, domain specialists, infrastructure providers and hobbyists who want to help build, test or challenge the work. You do not need to represent an organisation.
